Mike Durr
Mike was born and raised in Covington, Kentucky. He attended Holmes High School, The University of Kentucky and La Verne University in California. Mike travelled the world for over 21 years with the Department of Defense and retired in 1991 to start a business. In 1993 he sold his business and took a position teaching high school science near his home in Florida. In 1997 Mike started looking for a “Paradise Island” where he and his wife Gigi could retire and spend their time fishing, diving, surfing and jungle trekking. In 2000 he discovered Bocas Del Toro, Panama and he and Gigi visited the Province and the islands. In 2006 Mike left his position as Supervisor of Nuclear Security Training at the Crystal River Nuclear Power Station in Florida and became a legal resident of Panama. Mike and Gigi have a daughter, Jennifer, and two grand children living in California and a son Justen, who is the owner of two computer software/hardware design and engineering companies and a graduate student at the University of South Florida.
